Dear Reader,
Like you, i’m a big fan of Hollywood remakes of Japanese horror movies.
In fact, i prefer the US version of The Ring to the Japanese one. And i *have* seen both, so i’m pretty much an expert.
Now it seems that Hollywood has taken to remaking Korean movies as well.
And this one looks a doozie.
Not only does it star the delightful Emily Browning (from, among other things, A Series of Unfortunate Events), but the two central teenage girl characters (of whom Browning is one) seem to spend most of their time (when not doing patented Japanese-cinema double-take faces at the sight of scary children appearing unexpectedly in black and white) in their bathers.
So it’s all good.
For purists of Korean cinema, here is the trailer of the original (note the lack of swimwear).
BTW, i wanted to embed the actual official US movie trailer (the owners said i could), but fricken WordPress stripped all the embed code out when i tried. What is it with WordPress? I know everyone goes on about it being the ooh-la-la of blogging software, but if you only have a free account, it’s very limited and generally just pretty much shite.
In my humble opinion.
Yours,
Gullybogan
