Dear Reader,
I have a pet peeve; it’s the way people use (or don’t use) the apostrophe in the words “ITS” and “IT’S.”
*You* know how it is meant to be used, dear Reader, but so many others seem to have no idea.
In a recent series of big budget Cadbury TV commercial advertisements, the tagline at the end was spelt wrong.
So i wrote them an email.
Dear Cadbury,
I’m sure that someone has already pointed this out to you, but i’m writing anyway, just in case.
You have a series of TV ads promoting Old Gold chocolate. They feature Mayans, or Aztecs, or something like that.
Well.
At the end of the ads (it’s happened in both the ads in this series that i’ve seen), the tagline reads “Worth it’s weight in gold.”
See, that should read “Worth its weight in gold.”
As you have it, it reads “Worth it is weight in gold.”
Which i’m pretty sure you didn’t intend.
So there you go.
They never wrote back.
However, the advertisement has now been edited so that it reads, “Worth its weight in gold.”
So i take that as a victory.
Yours,
Gullybogan

Yes, annoying. Very very annoying.
There used to be a place along the main drag of North Arlington called “Ricks Tattoo’s.”
I want Apostrophe Police in my dictatorship, too.
GB: Whenever i give dicatation, i always spell out the apostrophes. That way, fewer people get hurt.
Yay!!!!! A victory indeed
It drives me batty to see its and it’s used incorrectly. Also, alot. It’s a lot. Not alot. People.
GB: “Alot” does shit me severely, too. How do you feel about “Thankyou”?
